Tony's Tavern repeats as GCIT champs with win over Metro
Apr 29,  2012

Tony's Tavern started the day with the opportunity to defend their 2011 GCIT title and face long time rival Houston Metro.  A series that predates all current players on the Tony's team.  Many classic battles have been played between the two teams over the years.

The teams waited out the consolation round games and then got on the field ready to play to see who would win this chapter.  Thanks to Metro for putting on the tournament and all the hard work required to organize the weekend..

Tony's came out of the game fast on offense and after the first few minutes held a 3-0 lead.  The team would eventually push it to 7-1 after the 1st quarter.  Metro rallied back with a few goals of their own before the half.

Tony's defense would play tough and get the ball to the offense in transition to help put the game away.  Big days on offense were had by Guterman, Jee, Loveless and Shainsky.

Blahut and Markeloff led the defense of Daniels, French, Grady, Hutchinson, and Prochaska.  The midfield played hard and contributed on both ends all day starting at the face-off X by Mills.

Tony's would like to thank the fans that came out to support the team all weekend.  The back to back GCIT championships give the team 3 overall since the GCIT started in 2009.

#33 - Jacque Passino

Jacque Passino rejoined Tony’s Tavern in 2008.  He is one of the last players on the team to start with Club Texas.  Rene Kozarsky and Jacque Passino are the last remaining 2003 Club Texas Alumni on the team.  Jacque returns to Tony’s Tavern after finishing college at Ole Miss.  Passino played his college lacrosse at Wingate University on scholarship before leaving to finish school at Old Miss.  Passino brings great offensive awareness to a potent Tony's Tavern offense.  He's willing to do the little things to help the team win whether it’s grabbing a ground ball or setting picks on offense.  Jacque plays solid defense and does a good job clearing the ball.
