Tony's Tavern takes home 2011 GCIT Championship 20-4 over Metro
May 1,  2011

Tony's had a match-up with long time rival Metro in the Gulf Coast Invitational Tournament on Sunday afternoon.  Tony's came into the game as the winner of Pool A while Metro represented the Pool B teams.

Tony's Tavern came out focused and took the lead 1-0 on a goal by Stowe off a nice feed from X by Loveless.  From that point the team continued to push the transition offense all game.  Metro would get on the scoreboard 4 times, but wouldn't be enough as Tony's pulled away and finished the game on top 20-4.

The defense played superb only allowing 4 goals and clearing the ball well to start fast breaks.  Blahut and Markeloff split time in cage along with getting help from the defensemen comprised of Daniels, French, Hutchinson and long stick middies Moss & Prochaska.  Daniels and French each added a goal on the day.

The midfield played well both on defense and offense.  The middies did a good job in the clearing game and added a few goals as well on the offensive half.  Mills dominated the face-off X all day and gave Tony's Tavern the advantage

The attack did their part on the day by finishing on multiple scoring opportunities and moved the ball around well all day.  The attack combined for 11 goals and 7 assists to help Tony's Tavern capture their 2nd GCIT championship.

Tony's Tavern thanks the fans that came out to support the team all season.

#33 - Jacque Passino

Jacque Passino rejoined Tony’s Tavern in 2008.  He is one of the last players on the team to start with Club Texas.  Rene Kozarsky and Jacque Passino are the last remaining 2003 Club Texas Alumni on the team.  Jacque returns to Tony’s Tavern after finishing college at Ole Miss.  Passino played his college lacrosse at Wingate University on scholarship before leaving to finish school at Old Miss.  Passino brings great offensive awareness to a potent Tony's Tavern offense.  He's willing to do the little things to help the team win whether it’s grabbing a ground ball or setting picks on offense.  Jacque plays solid defense and does a good job clearing the ball.
