Ben Powell returns to Tony’s Tavern in 2009 after a very productive 2008 season.  Ben came to Tony’s Tavern after playing college ball at the University of Arizona to strengthen a very talented midfield unit.  Powell has contributed in big games over the past 2 years for the team.  During the Dallas game in 2008 Powell came up big with 3 goals to help the team win 10-9.  Again in 2009 Powell made his presence known as he scored 3 goals in a victory against a talented Corpus Christi team.  Powell is native of Houston and was All District Honorable Mention while attending Episcopal High School.  His smarts on offense and quickness on defense make Powell and important part of the team in 2009.  Ben Powell will continue to be an important part of Tony’s Tavern with his knack for stepping-up in big games.  Having Powell in the talented midfield unit will ensure that Tony’s Tavern gets on top of all the loose balls and runs a fluid offense, which are keys to many more victories.
