Rene Kozarsky returns to Tony's Tavern after
another big season as a cornerstone of the team. Kozarsky
is one of the few remaining from the 2000 roster and captured
his and the team's first GCLA Championship in 2006.
Kozarsky had a monster year finishing 4th in Points(32),
2nd in Goals(22), and 4th in Assists(18). Kozarsky has
been a cornerstone of the Tony's Tavern team since it's
inception in 2000; playing seasons at attack, goalie, and
defense to fill the needs season to season. After
receiving the State of Texas Outstanding Athletic
Achievement-Lacrosse award at Texas A&M he brought his skills to
Tony's Tavern and was named 2000 Team MVP. Rene will return to Tony's
Tavern once again at attack to keep the high powered offense going by
running X on Man-up and adding to his Team Career lead for
Points(158), Goals(107), and Assists(45). Kozarsky will
returns as a cornerstone on the attack and Co-Captain of the
team.
Favorite Movie?
RK: Surviving the Game-Ice T
rules! I saw Goal-the Dream Begins the other week, it’s not bad
either.
Favorite Drink?
RK: Newcastle-smooth ale.
When that’s not around I drink Cape Cods-a friend of friend
turned me on to them at a wedding reception.
Favorite Lacrosse Head?
RK: Warrior Razer with six
diamond mesh. I’ve had a few break, but I like the feel of the
head.
Mesh or Traditional?
RK: I always used traditional
before coming to Houston, but it rains too much around here and
traditional takes too much time to adjust. Life is too busy to
adjust a pocket every night
TT: What has been your best
lacrosse experience?
RK: Scoring a goal against SMU
my senior year at A&M on Simpson Drill field and having my
momentum from the breakaway goal carry me to side of the field
where the Aggie Band was standing, who was getting ready for a
review after our game. They knew I was cadet and when I scored
they all dog piled me-that was cool.
TT: What is your favorite
sports team?
RK: Houston Dynamo
TT: What are your thoughts
on the team?
RK: It's nice to finally have
a team that is a true "team"-we had so many weapons. It seemed
like someone new stepped up every game. Whether it was Tim
(Glass) in the San Antonio game or me with UTSA, Joel (Hill)
against Metro at their place, or Matty (Shearer) in the
championship, we had so many options. That made us a hard team
to stop.
