Mike Shearer
returns to Tony's Tavern for another season after establishing
himself as a dominating force and as one of the best goalies in
the league in 2006. Mike joined his brother Matt this year
on Tony's Tavern to help bring home the first GCLA championship
in team history. Mike
brings his great knowledge of the game along from Downingtown HS
in Pennsylvania to a great defensive unit. Mike played big
this year as he and fellow goalie Roy Nichols split time in cage
and accounted for a 12-0 season including 2 shutouts.
Shearer posted and unbelievable save percentage to lead the
team, stopping 85% of the shots he faced in 2006. Mike
came up big this season helping to shutdown the tough Alamolax
team in a close game, as well as posting a shutout in the 2nd
half of the UTSA game that saw Tony's Tavern go on a 12-0 run.
Mike will return to help lead a talented
defensive unit
maintain their dominance and defend their GCLA championship in 2007.
